National Archaeological Museum

where we are

September 2, 2023 ~ jim clayton ~ Leave a comment

this is the room where they keep the stuff
from the neolithic or near enough

patterned vessels, pots and plates
needles of bone, stone loom weights

row upon row of tiny figures
strangely shaped but still familiar

it was odd to see them neatly spread
their people gone, their artists dead

five thousand years gone in a snap
